Mystery and Pleasure South of Lisbon

Some of the best beaches, pleasure farms and vineyards in Portugal are to be found 30 km south of Lisbon, in Arrábida Mountain range. One of the last remains of the European primeval forest, home of an austere and thoughtful religiosity, this ‘Sintra of the South’ emanates poetry and charm - like a Mediterranean Arcade on the edges of the Atlantic. A place of religious pilgrimage in Easter season and popular destination for summer holidays, but also a wonderful place for long walks and gastronomic excursions the whole year - Azeitão area in particular-, Arrábida is one of those rare spots favored by the Portuguese that most foreign visitors are still to discover.
